A |     (ECNS) -- China’s National Climate Center warned a historic “Super El Niño” is forming in the equatorial Pacific and is likely to peak this winter. Sea surface temperature indices reached 2.64°C in midAugust, suggesting it could surpass records set in 1982 and 2015.    The warming trend has already triggered extreme rainfall and typhoons across China this summer. Projections indicate most of the country will face warmer temperatures this autumn.
